Showing

Showing at the intercollegiate level is vastly different than what many riders experience in a typical show arena.  With the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association, the IHSA, riders do not need to own their own horse or tack to compete.  This unique situation places a rider in a situation where they arrive at the show and are randomly assigned a horse to ride.  With no warm up time the horse and rider enter the ring in competition.  In accordance with the IHSA mission statement, LVC’s Equestrian Team believes in the, “principle that any college student should be able to participate in horse shows regardless of his or her financial status or riding level.”  The IHSA competitions place the equestrian showing experience within reach for many who would otherwise miss this aspect of the equestrian sport.

Hunt seat and stock seat competition is judged on English and Western equitation respectively.  Equitation riding focuses on the rider and the correctness of their position.

If you are interested in showing with one or both of our teams please contact us and feel free to join our current team and watch during one of our shows.
