MEALS:

Dinner on August 19th is "on your own." Meals during band camp, with the exception of the first evening, are provided. A variety of light breakfast items will be available each day in the band room. Lunch and dinner will be served in the Dining Hall. Dinner on Friday is a pizza party behind Blair by the statues (area facing the Academic Quad).

It is essential that all wind players have a good portion of the show music memorized before camp to facilitate drill learning. Our music will, of course, be completely memorized for performance. Additional music for our traditional pre-game show and for stands playing will be issued during camp.

HEADS-UP:

Please take some time during these next few weeks to look over your music, work out rhythms, fingerings, and notes, and begin to memorize. Get your "chops," legs, and stamina in shape. We'll be hitting it hard from the first day! The majority of the field show will be learned by the close of camp, as our first show performance is September 8th!

PRACTICE FIELD ALERT:

Be prepared for hard work on the practice field. You should come with good athletic shoes, hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Practice footwear must be "lace-up" (no flip-flops or sandals). A personal water container of some kind is essential. Large coolers of water will be available at every practice. New students are reminded that you must have on file in the LVC health office your completed medical clearance form before you may participate in field practices; no exceptions!

DRILL BOOKS ARE REQUIRED FOR EACH ON-FIELD BAND MEMBER!

YOU MUST PURCHASE A SPIRAL-BOUND INDEX CARD BOOK!! You will be responsible for writing down your coordinates for each set. Your section leader will be provided drill charts. Please attach a cord to your dot book to facilitate carrying your coordinates on the field while marching. You must also bring your own flip folder/lyre with approximately 15 plastic pages for your music.

SHOES, GLOVES, SHIRTS, CAPS, JACKETS, AND OTHER BAND STUFF!

For performances all playing members will need to provide lace-up black band shoes. If you already have suitable black shoes for marching, bring them with you, for staff approval. Shoes with "rolled" toe and heel (Dinkles-type) are preferred and recommended. For those in need of shoes, we have available for order at band camp a black "athletic" type shoe ("Style-Plus") @ $30.00. Guard members will not need this shoe. Footwear for guard members will be discussed at camp. Individual band members are also responsible for providing one pair of white gloves (with the exception of percussion). Gloves will also be available for order at camp (deluxe white rubber dot palm with Velcro wrist band) @ $4.00.

2011 season "Pride of the Valley T-shirts @ $12.00 (to be worn under the uniform at performances) may be ordered during band camp. These shirts will be required.

Embroidered LVC logo marching band caps @ $9.95 are available at the college bookstore.

Optional popular "Pride of the Valley" items available include personalized, embroidered, fleece-lined zippered warm-up jackets (@ $50.00).

All of the above items may be charged to your LVC student account.
