November 16, 2009
On Sunday, November 15th, 2009, the brothers of Iota Kappa (including our newest class, Beta Sigma) enjoyed their first Mills Music Mission experience for the 2009-2010 school year.
We traveled to the suburbs of Lebanon city to a local retirement community by the name of Elmcroft.
Elmcroft is a small retirement community, but the amount of heart contained within its walls is astounding. It was a joy to bring music into the lives of those living in the community, and all of us were touched by the emotional reaction we received from those in attendance.
It may have been a small community, but being given the opportunity to touch even a few souls with the power of music holds just as much value as singing to the masses. It is the moments like this that show the world the good embodied within Sinfonia.
Projects like the Mills Music Mission are always a worthwhile experience, and the brothers of Iota Kappa are always grateful to share the gift and power of music with those in need.
After we concluded our performance we were promptly invited back to sing again, and we look forward to visiting the residents of Elmcroft again sometime soon!

Lyrecrest
This past
weekend Iota Kappa visited Lyrecrest,
the National headquarters of Phi Mu
Alpha in Evansville, Indiana.

We
participated in several brotherhood
building activities and participated in
presentations from the national and
Lyrecrest staff. These activities
revealed our strengths and weaknesses as
a chapter and we learned how to properly
address them.

We
also learned about the history of the
fraternity and its foundational
philosophical ideas. We were given
a tour of the building, read from the
writings of founding Sinfonians, and
were educated on the deeper meanings of
the fraternity.

Overall, it was an educational,
inspirational, and enjoyable experience.
It is our hope that we can use what we
have learned to greatly improve our
chapter and become better Sinfonians.
