Come See "Amadeus!"

Directed by Jacob Kanavins '18

8 pm shows: April 21st-22nd; April 28th-29th

2 pm shows: April 23rd; April 30th

Amadeus delves into the rivalry between Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri, the court composer for the Emperor of Austria in the late 18th century. In search of fame, Salieri barters with God – his devotion in exchange for success. At first it would seem as though his offer is accepted, as Salieri is relatively prosperous. But Salieri’s perspective changes upon realizing that Mozart, the rising star that everyone has been talking about for years, lacks the professional qualities he had expected. Mozart is juvenile, impulsive, and often crude, yet his musical abilities are unmatched. Jealous of Mozart’s genius and resentful of his own mediocrity, Salieri secretly rejects God and vows to destroy his rival’s career.
